Chapter 3
5. Sardis Church (1~6)
Sardis church had a name that they are alive but actually they were like a dead tree with no fruit. (1)
No complete fruit was found in them because they didn’t remember deeply what they have received, and didn’t keep it nor repent. If they keep this way, their church cannot stand the day when the Lord comes like a thief. (2~3)
No matter how zealous they are, if there isn’t the light of the Words of each Era, they cannot conclude correctly and it will be fruitless. Those who don’t participate in this situation but bear the fruit of sincere repentance will walk with the Lord. (4)
The faith without victorious life is not the life clothed in white garments. Those who overcome will be clothed in white garments whose name is written in the book of life and they will be confessed before God and His angels. (5~6)
6. Philadelphia Church (7~13)
Philadelphia church had an open door before them, for they kept the Word with all their strength and had the faith that never compromises. (7~8)
The victory comes from the Word, so this church will overcome the power of so-called Jews. (9)
God gives His Word and the test follows. But the Lord keeps those who keep the Words of perseverance from the hour of testing. The test is to come upon all mankind of the whole world at the end. (10)
Those who will receive the crown when the Lord comes must hold fast what they have and fight for it. (11)
God uses the overcomers as a pillar and only those will receive the kingship of the new Jerusalem. (12~13)
7. Laodicea Church (14~22)
Laodicea church was the richest and had need of nothing in human’s perspective. But they had no spiritual work. (14~15)
The church without spiritual work will automatically be spitted out of the Lord’s mouth. (16)
They were mesmerized by material pleasure and paid no attention on spiritual work. (17)
But the Lord advised them with His unsparing love. (18)
He reproves and disciplines even those whom He loves asking for their zealous repentance. (19)
In His sad heart, the Lord knocks on the door and urges them with the love that He wants to give the kingship even to this sleeping church. (20~22)
The Lord’s Word to these seven churches teaches the right way of the faith of the churches that will receive His second coming beyond all denominations.
